Sofie Rolain
Biography
After completing my bachelor and master in Geography, with a specialization in Earth and Climate, I joined the CGIS group in September 2022 as a teaching assistant and PhD researcher to further expand my skills.
My teaching activities include Introduction to GIS (Master Biology, Oceans and Lakes, MUS and STeR), Geïntegreerd Onderzoeksproject Geografie (3rd Bachelor Geography), Geoinformatiekunde (2nd Bachelor Geography), and Cartografie (1st Bachelor Geography).
My research interests are related to volcanic and magmatic processes and remote sensing of volcanos. The main objective of my PhD research is to better understand the dynamics and controlling factors of magma beneath active volcanoes by quantitatively constraining the dynamics and evolution of persistent lava lakes.
